Upcoming events and important dates

Saturday, February 14th – Cupid Shuffle, a 5K and 15K race sponsored by REACH Council and Crime Stoppers of Ellis County will start at Getzendaner Park.
We need volunteers to help direct traffic (walkers/runners and/or street traffic), man tables, etc.

Jail Break(In)! Thursday, March 26th  – We will tour the McCollum Detention Center. Plan to meet at the Park and Rec building at 6:00P so we can address any immediate or urgent needs as part of our COP and/or Crime Stopper member duties prior to the jail tour. Military medals stolen from Ellis County Resident and WWII veteran

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office “Crime of the Week” focuses on a Burglary of Habitation in the 7900 block of FM 1181, near Telico.  

On Monday December 29th, 2014, thieves burglarized a residence east of Ennis, near Telico, on FM 1181.   The suspects gained entry into the home by breaking a rear window.   Once inside the home, the suspects stole firearms, televisions, and jewelry.  

The homeowner’s most sentimental items that were stolen were several World War II medals he was awarded during his service to our country.  Along with various service awards and ribbons were three purple hearts he earned in World War II.  

Anyone with information regarding this offense should contact Crime Stoppers of Ellis County at 972-937-PAYS (7297).   Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 dollars for information that leads to the arrest and/or conviction of this crime.  The tip line is answered 24-hours a day, seven days a week by volunteers, and a translator will be available if needed.
